I have high blood pressure - now what?

It seems you have high blood pressure. This is not a good thing, as your doctor has no doubt told you. What it basically boils down to is that your blood is too dense, and your blood vessels may not be able to properly contain it in the future. And if a blood vessel bursts inside any part of your body, it can cause you to bleed internally, which can kill you within a short period of time. So of course, you have to control your blood pressure, in order to maintain a healthy life. And since controlling your blood pressure is a key component of extending the span of the life you will end up living, your high blood pressure has to be brought under control as soon as you can take control of it.

The problem is, high blood pressure is not something that simply springs up on you. It takes years to properly latch onto your body. So naturally, since it took years to come up, the practice of controlling your high blood pressure is not going to be the kind of thing that you will be able to do in an afternoon, or by simply making a tweak here and a tweak there. In order for you to truly control your blood pressure, you are going to need to make a number of dietary and physical changes to your daily life. For one thing, high blood pressure is typically a result of having too much salt in your blood stream.

While you will always need to have some degree of salt in your system, just in order for your vital functions to work well, having too much causes your blood to be too dense. As well, since salt is heavy and abrasive in nature, having too much of it inside your blood causes the amount of pressure that builds up on the walls of your blood vessels to increase greatly. And while having this increase in blood pressure can cause a myriad number of different health issues, you actually do have the power to control your blood pressure. Of course, just like most other things in life, this is going to require that put forth a decent amount of effort for an extended period of time. This particular period is for the rest of your life.

High blood pressure can be controlled through a proper diet and exercise regimen. You do not have to become an Olympic athlete or a tree hugging hippie, just to control your blood pressure. The first thing you can do is start to exercise at least half an hour per day, at least four days per week. It can be nothing more than a brisk walk. But controlling your blood pressure starts with conditioning your blood vessels to withstand greater pressure than you will subject them to by merely sitting around. And be sure to cut down on the amount of salt you eat, as well. Salty food is a major contributor to high blood pressure, and you can control your blood pressure by cutting down on the stuff.
