If you have trouble breathing and find that certain things or certain days make it worse you may be able to control your environment and make the symptoms minimal. There are things that you cannot control such as the chemicals that may have been inhaled while you work. If you have smoked for years then you know why you are experiencing a hard time breathing. Whatever the reason for your breathing problems there are solutions to make it easier for you to breathe.
Perfumes, deodorants, and air fragrances are just some of the many causes of breathing problems. They are all comprised of chemicals as well as other ingredients and instead of ruling out each fragrance eliminate them all together. Today there are several hypo-allergenic perfumes, deodorants and other personal hygiene products that you can use so start with one of these and ditch your old perfume and deodorants. To make your home smell fresh throw some fabric softener sheets under cushions, beds, and other places that are frequently used. You know which one you can use by now. Open the doors and windows for some fresh air.
Carry a scarf or handkerchief with you whenever you go out. If you find it difficult to breathe you can place the handkerchief over your mouth and nose until you can go outside or get out of that particular room. There could be dust allergens, perfumes, cologne, deodorizer, candles, and other things that can trigger difficulty breathing. When you can’t breathe well every breath allows you to inhale more of what is causing you trouble.
If you suffer from asthma make sure that you always have your inhaler with you just in case you would need it while you are out. You don’t want to go through an asthma attack and not have your inhaler with you because those around you may not realize that you are having an asthma attack so always carry an inhaler. Frequently check the date of the inhaler to make sure that it has not expired. If it is close to expiring make sure to get a new prescription soon.
Don’t be embarrassed to hang a sign on your door that states, “No Smoking”. People who are visiting will not mind the advanced notice. Your allergies will also act up if someone is wearing anything that might trigger your difficulty breathing. Just excuse yourself and go get a breath of fresh air. When you return try to sit by a window or open door to get fresh air until your company leaves.
Super clean your house. It’s not enough to run your vacuum once a week you are going to need to go at it as through you are doing spring cleaning. Make sure you reach vent openings, corners, cushions, mattresses, and more. You may want to invest a little more money into a vacuum that can do all of this and more. The problem with most vacuums is when you are done cleaning you empty a canister full of dirt. When you dump the dirt a lot of it escapes and goes up in the air that you breathe. Bags have dirt that escapes as well so try using a vacuum that collects everything with water. All of the dirt and particles do not stand a chance once they are sucked up in water. Even when the water is emptied the dust does not float around saving you a lot of time and making your home clean.
